DescriptionThe Head of Restaurant and Franchise Finance "RFF" is the bank's leading market facing executive in the Restaurant and Franchise Finance space. This role recommends the overall strategic direction and leads the planning cycle for growth in the market. This includes the types of restaurant segments to focus on such as QSR, Full Service, Independent, Pizza, McDonald's, etc. and other concepts outside of restaurants such as gyms, C&G, hospitality, retail outlets, etc. The Head of RFF will coordinate this strategy with product partners in credit management, operations, credit risk, overall risk, marketing, finance, and Info Tech to determine the overall execution strategy and financial plans for the group. In addition to hiring origination and underwriting talent, this role manages the day-to-day sales production in the vertical market space. This includes marketing activities, initial risk assessment, coordinates underwriting, approval, booking, and syndication if needed of loan origination in the Restaurant and Franchise Finance sector. This Head of RFF will also lead efforts with Chief Commercial Banking Officer inside the organization to ensure we have the appropriate credit appetite, policies, procedures to deliver loans, deposits management, and treasury products to the franchise sector. This position is a critical role in the commercial team and will represent NW bank in a key market sector.Essential Functions* Make timely and accurate decisions while thriving in a fast paced environment* Oversight of Restaurant and Franchise Finance vertical's loan origination, portfolio health, and credit appetite* Partner with Credit Management and Risk partners to develop, document, communicate, and maintain credit policy (including portfolio management policy) to ensure underwriting criteria and procedures are appropriate in relation to the bank's risk appetite and business goals* Maximize results by managing portfolio balances, segment concentrations, yields, and risk* Drive proper industry segment identification, client selection, credit appetite and return profile* Develop key performance indicators and holding team accountable for results* Identify and implement operational efficiencies and continuous improvement for the vertical* Recruit, develop, and retain key talent* Build and lead a high performance workforce* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency.* Exercise credit judgment and creativity as appropriate to ensure proper risk/return profile* Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures and Federal/State regulations* Build strategic partnerships through presenting in a professional manner to new and existing partners of Northwest* Provide business updates to the broader RFF team and to senior management / Board of Directors* Partner with Compliance Officer to ensure adherence to bank policies* Develop and maintain proper compensation structure to ensure portfolio growth and credit quality* Partner with Vendor Management Officer to ensure maximum utilization of technology, optimal efficiency and best practices* Partner with Training Officer to ensure team training needs are met on a timely basis* Manage work hours and FTEs to control costs* Partner with Quality Control to respond to findings* Review exception requests from business partners and department management team* Understand and comply to investor, insurer, and Northwest policies* Maximize results of industry memberships and networking opportunities* Participate in efforts to increase cross-sales between internal business partners* Manage efforts to grow and retain loans and deposits* Manage efforts to generate activity from new and existing customers, as well as non-customersAdditional Essential Functions* Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations* Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency* Work as part of a team* Work with on-site equipmentAdditional ResponsibilitiesSafety and Health for Supervisors with Direct Reports* Provide leadership and positive direction for maintaining the safety and loss prevention program* Actively participate in and support employee participation in the safety and loss prevention program by ensuring that employees know how to properly report a safety issue, making sure that all accidents are promptly reported to Human Resources and documented, and ensuring that prompt action is taken whenever workplace hazards are identified* Help implement emergency proceduresQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
